INTRODUCTION

The objective of this research is to introduce the use of movie clips to enhance specific grammar structures in the oral production and therefore the use of these grammar structures in the writing skills in the English class.
Due to the fact that the Icesi University integrates the use of the New Information and Communication Technology (NICT) in different fields, one of which can be visual by implementing the use of movie clips in order to increase and improve oral production or communicative skills by exposing students to images that will motivate them to produce their own ideas orally in contrast to their using the traditional exercises taken from grammar books which help to assess if the objective was achieved in a lesson or not.
Clearly the advantages in the use of movie clips are varied: students can listen to the language in context, can speculate on possibilities before and after the segment, can comment on the topic, can have fun and they can also feel that the ultimate goal has been achieved.

INTRODUCCIÓN

El objetivo de la investigación es introducir la utilización de clips de películas para incrementar estructuras gramáticales específicas en la producción oral y por consiguiente la utilización de estas estructuras en la producción escrita en la clase de inglés. Debido a que en la Universidad se integran las nuevas Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación (TIC), una de las cuales es el audiovisual, se puede implementar el uso de clips de películas con el fin de incrementar y mejorar la producción oral o las habilidades comunicativas al exponerlos a imágenes que los motiven a producir oralmente sus propias ideas dond tradicionalmente se han utilizado ejercicios mecánicos de libros de gramática que ayudan a comprobar sí los objetivos de la lección se han logrado.
Es indudable que las ventajas existentes en la utilización de clips de películas son variadas: los estudiantes pueden escuchar el idioma en su contexto, especular sobre posibilidades antes y después del segmento, opinar sobre el tema, divertirse y sentir que se ha logrado el objetivo final.

ICESI UNIVERSITY CONTEXT

The research population is a Level VIII group of students in the morning 7:00 to 9:00 schedule that is studying at the ICESI University located in the south part of Cali on Avenida Cañasgordas in the Pance sector, specifically at Calle 18 Number 122-135, where you can observe other universities and colleges nearby. Its campus is 86.000 square meters which is made up of 12 buildings equipped with the latest technology for the optimum development of academic and research projects as well as other buildings related to the academic and administrative areas, the library, laboratories and one designed especifically for university welfare activities.

According to the historical account found on the ICESI website page, in the year 1979 a group of 45 students met in a classroom provided by INCOLDA headquaters in the downtown area of Cali to begin their profesional education in Business Administration at INCOLDA. The initial concern was the training of future leaders in the region. In the early 1980s, they opened the evening program of Business Administration and in 1981, they launched an alliance with EAFIT in Medellìn to promote their bachelor degree studies which lasted nearly a decade and laid the foundation for rapid development of this academic institution. 25 years ago, exactly in 1984, the Systems Engineering Program began and it was opened with their first computer classroom. In that same year the Centro de Desarrollo de Espíritu Empresarial (CDEE), the first academic unit in this field established in Latin America. By that time, the first plot of ground was bought for the location of the Icesi University.

This document also describes that when the Icesi came to occupy the new facilities in 1988, it had about 1,500 students at its Pance headquarters. In 1997, they requested the Ministry of Education to be recognized as a university. As stated in their historical review, a series of curriculum content adjustments began in that same year and due to the contents, objectives and learning strategies ranked it as the nation's leading institution in that dimension.

Also in 2008, CIDEIM arrives at ICESI having as the main objective the projection of its programs in Natural Sciences and Medicine, which became official on November 20 in agreement with the International Training and Medical Research Center. In the month of April 2009 the Faculty of Health Science is created and the Medicine program is officially approved in exclusive agreement with Fundacion Valle del Lili.
The ICESI being an institution of higher education has formed, supported and promoted research on teachers and students and has had 14 research groups registered in Colciencias within nineteen undergraduate programs, seven master's degrees and six specialized programs. On the other hand, the group of teachers the ICESI counts on is known for its academic training, its teaching skills and professional experience. 41% of the teachers are full-time and have a doctorade degree, or is in process, 34% have a Master's degree, 19% are specialized and 8% are professionals.
According to the quarterly magazine of the ICESI University called Interacción, regional employers were those who founded and are entrepreneurs in the region that today oversee it from its Superior Council and its Board of Directors. In addition to guidance and control development, employers have contributed resources in money to this academic center and can be seen in its construction, its campus, its technology and the adequacy of their classrooms, auditoriums and offices, as well as in the scholarships to hundreds of young people with high academic potential from families with limited financial situation that could not afford their studies at a private university with high standards.

CONTEXTO DE LA UNIVERSIDAD ICESI

La población objeto de investigación es un grupo de estudiantes de nivel VIII en la jornada de la mañana (7:00- 9:00 am) que se encuentra estudiando en la Universidad Icesi ubicada en la ciudad de Santiago de Cali, Valle del Cauca. La Universidad está situada al sur de la ciudad sobre la Avenida Cañasgordas en el sector de Pance, más específicamente en la Calle 18 Número 122-135, donde se puede observar la existencia de otras universidades y colegios importantes de la ciudad de Cali. En su edificación se destaca un campus de 86.000 metros cuadrados que está compuesto por 12 edificios dotados con equipos de última tecnología y aire acondicionado para el óptimo desarrollo de las actividades académicas y de investigación. Los demás edificios corresponden a: las áreas académicas y administrativas; la Biblioteca, los laboratorios y uno diseñado, especialmente, para las actividades de Bienestar Universitario,

Según la reseña histórica encontrada en su página web de presentación, en el año 1979 se reunió un grupo de 45 estudiantes, en un aula prestada, en la sede de INCOLDA, en el centro de Cali, para iniciar su educación profesional en Administración de Empresas en el Instituto Colombiano de Estudios Superiores de INCOLDA. La preocupación inicial fue la formación de los futuros dirigentes de la región. A principios de 1980 se inauguró el programa nocturno de Administración de Empresas y en 1981 se inició una importante alianza para estudios de postgrado con EAFIT de Medellín que duró casi una década y estableció las bases para un rápido desarrollo académico de ésta institución.

Hace 25 años, en 1984, se inició el programa de Ingeniería de Sistemas y se inauguró la primera aula de cómputo. En ese año se creó también el Centro de Desarrollo de Espíritu Empresarial, CDEE, primera unidad académica en ese campo establecida en América Latina. Por la misma época se compró el primer lote para la sede de Pance.

También describe este documento que cuando la ICESI entró a ocupar las nuevas instalaciones, en 1988, ya contaba con cerca de 1.500 estudiantes en su sede de Pance. En 1997 solicitaron y se obtuvo del Ministerio de Educación, el reconocimiento como Universidad. Según consta en la reseña histórica en ese año se inició una serie de ajustes curriculares que por contenidos, intenciones y estrategias de aprendizaje la posicionó como institución líder a nivel nacional en esa dimensión.

Además en el año 2008, CIDEIM llega a la ICESI teniendo como principal objetivo la proyección de sus programas de Ciencias Naturales y el de Medicina, el cual se oficializa el 20 de Noviembre en convenio con el Centro Internacional de Entrenamiento e Investigaciones Médicas. En el mes de abril de 2009 se crea la Facultad de Ciencias de La Salud y es aprobado oficialmente el programa de Medicina en convenio exclusivo con la Fundación Valle del Líli.

La ICESI siendo una institución de Educación Superior ha formado, apoyado y fomentado la investigación en profesores y estudiantes contando con 14 grupos de investigación inscritos en Colciencias dentro de sus diecinueve programas de pregrado, siete maestrías, y seis programas de especialización. Por otro lado, el grupo de profesores con el que cuenta la ICESI se destaca por su formación académica, su habilidad para la docencia y su experiencia profesional. El 41% de los profesores de tiempo completo tienen título de doctorado, o está en curso, el 34% tiene título de Maestría, el 19% de Especialista y el 8% es profesional.

Según la revista trimestral de la Universidad ICESI llamada Interacción fueron empresarios de la región los que la fundaron y son empresarios de la región los que hoy la supervisan desde su Concejo Superior y su Junta Directiva. Además de orientación, desarrollo y control, los empresarios han aportado a éste centro académico recursos en dinero y en especie que se pueden apreciar en su construcción, su campus, su tecnología y la adecuación de sus aulas, auditorios y oficinas, como también en las becas a centenares de jóvenes de elevado potencial académico provenientes de familias con una situación económica limitada que no podrían costear sus estudios en una universidad privada de altos estándares.
