AUDIOVISUAL: It means the integration and interaction between an audio and visual message to produce a new language. The perception is simultaneous and creates new realities, like the harmony (each sound corresponds to an image), complementarity (what is not provided by one is given by the other), reinforcement (reinforcing the meanings of each other) and contrast (the meaning arises from the contrast between the two) through the news media and the communication channels.

LEARNING STRATEGY: The term learning strategy is understood as those procedures that are created in response to complex and conflicting situations, employed in performing a specific task. A process for learning is a set of actions ordered and completed that is aimed at achieving a goal.

GRAMMAR: The set of rules of language in its various dimensions and relations (vocabulary, phonetics, syntax, verb tense and mood, etc.).

INCREASE: You have the sense to increase, grow, grow more than usual.

EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION: It is the attitude and the process of investigation of new ideas, suggestions and contributions to solve problematic situations in educational practice, which involves a substantial change in procedures and educational contexts.

EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT: Refers to changes that enhance the environment and the educational performance of actors, without affecting the structure. In this sense it differs from the term "educational innovation."

TEST: You test, experiment or try something out. Make a test or experiment with the qualities of someone or something. Examine if something behaves as expected or do something on purpose to produce an effect.

ORAL PRODUCTION: It means creating something from the speech. It refers to oral speech, the verbal, which articulates with the mouth. Produce orally requires using some elements to transform them and offer them as a new product. In the oral production, communication strategies intervene with the other social functions and the capacity to express ideas, opinions, and desires and solve problems.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: A measure that indicates the knowledge that the students have acquired in English. It therefore follows how well students would fare in academic attainment depends largely on the result of their formation process.

FILM CLIPs: Film clips presents fully licensed short scenes that are extracted from major motion pictures on DVD. These clips are about 5-7 minutes long which is the amount of time needed for the intended purpose. It is unnecessary to watch the entire movie or video.

CONCEPTOS CLAVES

Audiovisual: Significa la integración e interrelación entre el mensaje auditivo y el visual para producir un nuevo lenguaje. La percepción es simultánea y se crean así nuevas realidades sensoriales como la armonía (a cada sonido le corresponde una imagen), complementariedad (lo que no aporta uno lo aporta el otro), refuerzo (se refuerzan los significados entre sí) y contraste (el significado nace del contraste entre ambos), mediante la concurrencia de medios y canales de comunicación.

Estrategia de aprendizaje: Se entiende por estrategia de aprendizaje a aquellos procedimientos que se crean respondiendo a situaciones complejas y conflictivas, empleados en la realización de una determinada tarea. Un procedimiento para el aprendizaje es un conjunto de acciones ordenadas y finalizadas, es decir dirigidas a la consecución de una meta.

Gramatica: Es el conjunto de reglas del lenguaje en sus diversas dimensiones y relaciones (léxico, fonética, sintaxis, tiempo y modo verbal, etc.).

Incrementar: Tiene el sentido de aumentar, acrecentar, producir más de lo habitual.

Innovación educativa: Es la actitud y el proceso de indagación de nuevas ideas, propuestas y aportaciones para la solución de situaciones problemáticas en la práctica educativa, lo que comporta un cambio sustancial en los procedimientos y los contextos educativos.

Mejora educativa: Se refiere a los cambios que mejoran el ambiente y el desempeño de los actores educativos, sin que afecten la estructura. En tal sentido se distingue del término “innovación educativa”.

Probar: Es hacer prueba, experimentar o intentar algo. Hacer un examen o experimento de las cualidades de alguien o algo. Examinar si algo se comporta conforme a lo esperado o hacer algo a propósito para producir un efecto.

Producción oral: Quiere decir crear algo desde el habla. Lo oral se refiere al habla, lo verbal, lo que se articula con la boca. Producir oralmente requiere utilizar algunos elementos para transformarlos y ofrecerlos como un nuevo producto. En la producción oral intervienen estrategias de comunicación, interacción con los demás, funciones sociales y capacidad para expresar ideas, opiniones, deseos y resolver problemas.

Rendimiento académico: Es una medida de las capacidades respondientes o indicativas que manifiesta, en forma estimativa, lo que una persona ha aprendido como resultado de su proceso formativo.

Segmentos de videos: Partes que se extraen de videos para verlos en clase, por considerar que tienen las características buscadas y que son suficientes para el propósito planteado, lo que se cree innecesario utilizar o ver del video completo.
